Movie begins in Hong Kong 1962 and time passes and ends in Cambodia 1966. Two couples move in neighboring apartments. You see the wife of one couple and the husband of the other couple but the two absent spouses is discovered they are having an affair. The two spouses you see in the film develop a platonic relationship. They might be in love with each other but you are never sure. Throughout the movie there is a Mexican song playing that says “perhaps, perhaps, perhaps”. The couple separates and both move out. Later in the film both come back to the apartment building and miss each other. There lives continue in separate ways and the movie ends. You get the idea that the past is over and can’t be recaptured. The movie was definitely confusing and difficult to understand
