I teach high school chemistry and AP biology and found this page to be a great resource for a genetics unit. The article comes from the publication Nature. The article talks about how scientists have been able to trace the human Y chromosome across Asia back about 1000 years to 11 common ancestors. Historians and scientists believe that the main common ancestor is Genghis Khan. However, they have also traced lineages back to Giocangga of China and Ui Neill of Ireland. This resource is accessible for high school students, especially students who have taken a biology or AP biology course.
