There is a interesting development in the news in the last couple of days about North Korea and their participation in the manufacturing of counterfeit cigarettes, pharmaceutical drugs, and even U.S. currency. North Korea then sells these illegal goods and launders the counterfeit money to fund its nuclear program and slush funds for high ranking Korean officials.This is not underworld activity, instead this is government sanctioned activity. The Bush administration is acussing North Korea of all these illegal activites. This story is being revealed as nuclear sanctions are trying to be imposed on North Korea. Furthermore, North Korea has abandoned the talks about curbing thier nuclear activities. It seems apparent that sometime in the near future there may a confrontation between the U.S. and North Korea.
