Thanks for the information! I had never heard of this museum before but it sounds like it would be worth a visit!

The Norton Simon Museum is located in Pasadena, Ca. I decided to visit another Pasadena museum due to the fact that I have made frequent visits to museums in Downtown LA and it was nice to explore outside of DTLA This museum is free the first Friday of the month between 5-8pm. In addition, anyone with a student ID and under 18 can visit for free! The museum's garden is also nice to walk through as they have beautiful plants, flowers and a pond

Although there are on going new exhibits in the Norton Simon, their permanent exhibits are worth visiting as well. Not only do they have permanent collections of European, Modern & Contemporary art, but their Asian art is outstanding. They carry a vast amount of sculptures, which I really appreciate as a ceramic teacher.

Norton Simon's Asian art collection ranges from South and Southeast Asia, mainly traditions of sculpture and painting. Even though this permanent exhibit displays a majority of art from other countries in Asia such as India, Thailand, Nepal, Indonesia- they also display pieces from China, as well as Japanese (woodblock print)- which are two countries we focused on in class. Although we did not learn about India, the collection displays many beautiful bronzes from southern India.

    Definitely a museum to visit!
