I always carry 8 of my own batteries (AA). I do not want to hunt for them when I suddenly need them. I use the digital ones, for longer life. Although I just got the camera recently (A- 520 Cannon- 4 megapixils) I find I am getting 1 week of pictures before I have to change batteries (300+ photos). The pictures are coming out wonderful. I have really been pleased. I am hoping that when we get home, all of us can download our shots to a CD and make copies for everyone, so that we can share some great shots maybe some of us missed.
Hi. When my battery goes out on my digital camera, I have to plug it in to recharge. Does anyone know how I would do this in China? Do I need an adaptor?
Good question Sharon. How affordable would it be to take an extra battery? You could miss some good photo opportunities if you have to wait for the battery to recharge. I plan to buy a camera because the one I have is not very good.
Yes Sharon, you will need an adapter but if all you plan to do with your digital camera is take pictures, all you need are some good batteries specifically made for digital camera use put in before we leave on the trip. If your really worried, take some extra as backup, but so long as your demands are simple, your one set of batteries should last.
My yearbook staff goes through four batteries a year. I only went through eight this year because one of my photographers was so in love with his skateboarding he recorded almost an hour of himself before the camera died on him. I now only allow them to use the photo feature!
If your camera dies as quickly as you say even with specialized batteries, you may want to adjust the quality of the images you are taking. But for the most part, with a 5mp camera and a 1GB memory card you can easlity take 600 to 900 pictures of good quality and size without running out of juice once. You may also want to limit the amount of time you leave the camera on either to review pictures, delete them or save them. The more time its on, the more juice you use. Also, if your camera has screen you might want to consider not using it but rather use the eye piece the old fashioned way. That will save you tons of battery life.
My camera goes through 2 AA batteries in a week, when I am constantly taking pictures, like I know I will be. I am bringing 8 extra batteries. I specifically bought a camera that took 2 AA's on the advice of my friend, who got rid of her first digetal camera because it took specialized batteries.
I sure am glad you are going Claudia. You sure do know alot about cameras!
I was thinking about asking my school to either fund a camera for the trip or to loan me one from either yearbook or journalism. Has anyone else tried to do this? I also want to get some video footage but taking two cameras would be a bit much for my light load hopes to handle. Any ideas on what could do both jobs equally well?
