These may be of some interest to participants in the China forum sponsored by Cal Poly Pomona (my Alma Mater) this last summer.
1-Lianlian Lin, professor of the management and human resources department, gave more than 10 presentations and seminars to faculty, executives and entrepreneurs in China during the summer. http://polycentric.csupomona.edu/achievements/2012/10/mhr-prof-global-perspective.html

2-Greg Young, professor in the finance, real estate and law department delivered two lectures in September, tapping into his extensive knowledge of international law. Young’s first lecture – “International Securities Regulation: the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission’s Global Influence” – was given to a group of investment officials and administrators from the Zhejiang Province in China. They visited Cal Poly Pomona through the College of Extended University.

3-A select group of graduate students from different disciplines were selected and invited to participate in welcoming the various visiting scholars and be part of conversations about American models in bussines practices and Teaching instructional strategies-(I was part of these conversational team from the College of Education), thats how my interest in China and its culture got intensified, and I end up joining this Forum an its incredible wealth of information.

Interesting news conference. Watching this only increases my awareness of China's global impact in trade, the world of entertainment, and businesses in general. It was also interesting to hear about President Nixon's significant contribution in building the relationship between the United States and China.

Im quite surprised to learn that industries deny access to American business men and they are violating trade agreements.

I could not access the link, but I am sure that it was an interesting analysis. China is such an important part of our lives here in America and I believe it is imperative that we keep up with the news on everything that has to do with China. I was just noticing that a great deal of the products we use are made in China and there is a reason why we get them, because they are affordable and the quality is good. The more I learn about China, the more interesting it gets.

Our economy has been interconnected with much of the world for a long time now. So much of what is imported is at the behest of US industry. There is a lot that the US exports to China that is not all that great for the Chinese people such as e-waste and industrial pollution.

The vice president of China visited Los Angeles last week. Xi Jinping is in line to become China's next leader and Clayton Dube was Channel 4 NBC analyzing the trip to Los Angeles. What does this mean to our trade relationship and to businesses here in the states and abroad?
Here are some concerns. The Chinese government continues to violate trade agreements by using subsidies to support their industries. Also, American businessmen are not being allowed access to certain industries In China. Also, piracy continues to be an issue because although China has laws in the books that outlaws it, there is no serious enforcement of these laws or penalties for those who sell pirated material. There is some good news, American exports continue to be popular like KFC and also the U.S. is the destination number one destination for Chinese tourists. See the link below if you want to see Dube on tv.
