Another book just added to my class library is "Ruby's Wish" by Shirin Yim Bridges. Ruby who wants so badly to continue her education into college impresses her grandfather with her thirst for knowledge and he makes it possible for her to go on to study. Ruby is actually the author's own grandmother. This book is a positive female encouragement with it's story of education for women in a time where it was not the norm.
