our yearbooks are pricey and huge - so i may instead bring our high school's literary/art magazine or school newspaper - what do you think?

Sounds like a good idea. Those HS yearbooks are heavy!!

One good thing about teaching in an elementary school....our yearbooks are light!

    Jen:
I agree, the HS Yearbooks are a load. Mine's 332 pages. Ouch.
The newspaper is a great idea, and I wish I had thought of it before school let out.
Plus, lit magazines allow students to see the creative side of their peers.

    Clay, Venus or Linda,

Do we have one Home Visit scheduled or two? (I wrote it down in my notes during Orientation
    but can't find it now).

Still need to purchase a gift(s) for the Home Visit.

I am with you, Adele. I totally missed the boat with getting my students to make creative things for me to bring over. The end of the school year came and went in a blur. I do have some pictures of my classes that I was thinking of making into some kind of postcard or bookmark or something . . .

I also picked up a cool photo book of Los Angeles for a home visit gift. It shows off some of LA's most prominent features in an interesting way.

I hear ya.... in all the chaos during the last week, I forgot to get my kids to sign the Postcards!!!! Well, in any event, I think the postcards themselves are really cool, and I'm sure we can come up with some creative ideas to fill in.

I'm considering bring a History of Los Angelesor pasadena Book

Ooh, I like the picture book idea -- I totally forgot about that. Now I know what to do with all those Barnes & Noble gift certificates I got!

In addition to school yearbooks, I also thought literary magazines (student-produced work) would be cool. I was able to get about 10 of them from our school's advisor.
