Hi everyone,
My name is Juana Evink, I have 2 kids and I'm 3 months pregnant with my third(& last) child. I teach 6th Social Studies at John Muir MS in South LA. I have participated in multiple USC-China Institutes seminars, and I love them. I'm looking forward to learning more about Asia's pop culture, economics, Buddhism and more.
Hello! My name Brigid and I teach middle school English at Paul Revere MS in Brentwood, CA. I previously participated in a USC US China Institute class and really enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to hearing from some of the same professors and some new speakers. I have also traveled to Korea, Thailand, and the Phillipines in the past. I like adding my travels into my teaching and blending my lessons with the history curriculum which studies ancient civilizations-China, Korea, Japan, etc.
Hi! I hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer break. My name is Cindy Nguyen and I am currently a high school history teacher for LAUSD. Hi everyone. My name is Jonathan Tam and I teach at the School of Social Justice in Downtown LA. I have taken a few courses with the institute before, but I enjoy coming back because they're so incredibly enriching. They're engagingly taught. And they're an excuse to rent films. I am really looking forward to hearing about some of these newer topics like buddhism and classical music as well as refreshing my knowledge on some of the topics that I'm more familiar with.

Hello, everyone. My name is Jessica Ng (pronouncec "ing") and I teach ETK (basically pre-K) in Los Angeles. This is my 4th year teaching, though I have a number of years of experience teaching in an early education center previous to moving to elementary. I am a native Angelena who loves to travel and visit at least one new place every year. By night, I sing Eastern European folk music and practice aerial arts. I wanted to take this course to deepen and extend what I learned from the previous one!
I teach US History at Burton High School, in San Francisco. I am taking this course to expand upon my general knowledge of regional cultural diffusion, in Eastern Asia. I hope to be better able to infuse my curriculum with examples that I gain from this course, building upon what my students have already learned in World History, as sophmores. This is my first course with USC, and it is my "quarantine vacation".
