Just signed up for the Sunday afternoon shift for Shinnen Kai.....my son's Boy Scout troop meets at a local Japanese Cultural Center......the boys (and their parents) need to sign up to help for this yearly event...... it is an afternoon of delicious food offered to the older visitors to the center........I think it's a lovely idea....
how to incorporate this into the classroom ...
students could discuss and write about how older people are viewed in our culture (perhaps compare with how older people are viewed in a home culture of the studen)t...students could then study how older people are viewed in Asia ---
lots of possible culminating projects...an oral report, a compare and contrast essay or ?
