Toyo’s Camera is a documentary about Toyo Miyatake, a Japanese American photographer, who was sent to an internment camp at Manzanar with his family during WWII. Miyatake smuggled his camera into the camp and the pictures survived. They tell an amazing story of courage and love. The documentary includes interviews from internees - George Takei gives a heartfelt testimony. I show this documentary every year to my 10th grade students. Attached is a viewing guide I created for them to take notes. The film’s website is filled with images from Camp Manzanar: http://www.toyoscamera.com/
