UCSD Modern Chinese History
This UCSD Modern Chinese History Website is a research site that houses information from book reviews, scholarly articles, and essays written by PhD students in the Chinese history program at UCSD. One of the best tools I found on this site was the link on the right side of the homepage titled "sources by period". This section categorizes texts into: The Qing 1644-1911, Republican China 1912-1949, and The People's Republic of China 1949-present. You can click on the time period and then even further narrow your focus by clicking on specific years, topics, or key words to find texts. For example I clicked on the year 1958 and there are 3 articles posted including "China's Early Indsutrialization".
I thought this site was set up in a way that students could navigate easily. I have found that many students struggle with finding relevant texts when doing research on the web. This site could make a great source to do a mini websearch activity.
