https://en.unesco.org/silkroad/silkroad-interactive-map
This website is an interactive map of the Silk Road that begins with an overview of the history of the Silk Road. After entering the map, students (or teachers) can click on different cities on the map, which will lead to a popup that provides information and visuals about the city’s ties to the Silk Road. You can click “more” and it will lead to even more detailed information and photos of sights in the city, and the name and flag of the present-day country. This website is maintained by UNESCO and is developed and maintained with the support of various countries. Further exploration of the website (aside from the interactive map), one will also find a wealth of scientific papers, articles, and reports in the knowledge bank. There are also images from an annual youth photography contest, which encourages youth to submit photos that reflect their heritage of the Silk Roads. There is also a Silk Road photo gallery where anyone who lives in or has visited a section of the Silk Road can submit a photo. These photos would be a great resource for teachers who want to show present day sections or people along the Silk Road.
