    Here is an article from the Los Angeles Times 1989 on Liu Shaoqi who, in my opinion, is one of the truly most tragic figures of China's long and tragic history. Nothing could be more in evidence of Mao's megalomania than this man's story. Please observe all copyright laws. nb

    If you are not familar with Sapajou, let me introduce you to him. He was White Russian living as a refugee in Shanghai during the 1930s and made his living as politcal cartoonist. His work is simply the Icon of the era. I can't think of anyone who even comes close to capturing the feel, the essence of the era of East China during the years leading up to WWII. nb
