I was surprised first -at the amount of construction going on in Hanoi and secondly because, although these condominiums were so high priced. who was buying them?When I asked. at the University, was told that foreign money were the people coming in to do this. I loved Vietnam but was also surprised at the disparity between the rich and the poor in a Communist country. Education is highly prized but was also told that teachers must tutor to help bridge the gap in their salary and living expenses.
