Last week we went to the Chinese American Museum. I highly recommend this museum if you are interested in history or teach history. The museum is interactive and the docents are friendly and knowledgable. Immigrant's experiences are displayed creatively and with great imagination. Various aged participants would benefit from visiting this site. Here is the url connection for your use:

I agree with you Jeanette. The museum is a wonderful way to learn about Asian American history. I thought the visual realia of bowl with rice to show the growth of chinese demographic was very creative. As a Korean-American immigrant, my experience in the museum was very personal. I remember having to decide whether to leave my set of Korean books behind or bring them with me.

The deep reflective sense of the past is powerful. I can imagine how you must have felt. How purposeful to use rice in such a symbolic way. I thought that the postcard technique was memorable too. I wrote a letter to my mother on Guam. The ideal educator of the family, she would be touched deeply and would probably want to visit this museum on her next trip out here. I also wrote to myself [and my students] via Mesa Linda sharing my profound thoughts.

I may consider arranging a fieldtrip with my students.
