I am tying my student's study of The Great Wall to the building of the Three Gorges Dam in China today. The most balanced report was from the Lehrer Newshour. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/extra/features/jan-june03/dam_6-18.html
It presents both the Chinese government's hopes for wonderful progress from the dam and critics concerns about the dam. It gives several statistics for both sides of the argument.

Two other sites about the Three Gorges Dam are more biased against the dam, but they give good statistics and many excellent photos. They are

A fun website for students about the Great Wall is the virtual tour at http://www.thebeijingguide.com/badaling/ . It's a little slow loading up (maybe that's my computer), but shows this section of the wall well.

Minnesota State University has a well-organized, easy to navigate website. I accessed their section on the Qin Dynasty and found it to be clearly written, one that I think most of my students could understand. They also had clear maps of Qin's Dynasty. In addition the website has sections on Ancient China, the other Early Imperial Dynasties, Classical Imperial China, Later Imperial China, Maps, and Tiimelines.

This is not really a website evaluation, more of a question out there for any of you regarding the creation of our own websites. Did anyone else have big trouble figuring out how to do this? It seemed as though the typed instructions did not match what appeared on my screen from the software. I know that Clay offered one more day of help, but I was not able to attend that one, and thought I would be able to figure the whole thing out with the software and written directions. I spent HOURS on it -- largely a testament to my ignorance of things web-related, but it seems that we should have had more scheduled time to get on board with this. I do feel like I learned a lot, but it would have been so much faster with a knowledgeable person to give me feedback. Cheryl Tchir[Edit by="ctchir on Feb 28, 8:23:50 PM"][/Edit]
