I think the idea of esports teams in US schools is fantastic

we have athletes and gamers and students who are both in my school. Video games do not get the credit they deserve. I found numerous academic articles that discuss the benefits of gaming and refute the old 90s myth that video games make teens violent.

but alas in more conservative American schools there is a stigma

    Nice!
many of my students cook and those who don't coukd learn! It would be great to demo a recipe in class !

And to share what they cook!

I love the idea of esports teams being sanctioned by CIF to be in schools. This really means potential inclusion for everyone - so many more students involved and not limited by genetic factors outside of our control. I agree that looking at it as passion and sport is also quite rational, there's so much that goes into playing and being successful at esports!

I have noticed students reading more and more webtoons on their phone.  Sometimes they are reading a translated Korean webtoon but don't realize it.  I only realized it when I saw Korean words on the webtoon.  As to esport, a lot of the students who play videogames know about famous Korean esport players. I think esport has become more legitimatized and as a result more accepted by parents who were previously anti-video games. Our school streams the esport competition when our team competes.
