The old saying is that the Koreans are the "Irish of the Orient". The stereotypical portrayal of Koreans also clearly paints them as mercurial and somewhat embittered. Having lived and worked in South Korea, I can whole-heartedly disagree. It was one of my greatest experiences- I found the people to be warm, open, friendly, and very curious about other parts of the world.
