Hola! I'm a bilingual high school social studies teacher in the southern most district in CA, Sweetwater Unified in Chula Vista.  I will be teaching bilingual human geography and ethnic studies this upcoming year.  For us, that means July 19!

I'm looking forward to learning about Japanese history through objects and rituals.  See you Wednesday! 🙂

Like others have already noted, listening to Dr. Bharne contextualize the perspectives of the East and West through art and architecture is so thought provoking.  Having been to Macau and seeing St. Paul's façade I was struck with the professor's words regarding the "signature of a place" and how humans either add or remove (erase) it.

I found the second reading difficult to get through, maybe I wasn't sitting in an auspicous place when I read it?

My questions stem from Berthelot's astrobiology and its manifestation in Asian cities. Why would Nelson Wu counter that connection?

Hola! I'm a bilingual high school social studies teacher in the southern most district in CA, Sweetwater Unified in Chula Vista.  I have been fortunate enough to travel to South Korea and China through education programs. Both were incredibly well put together and I learned so much! Basically, it awakened a desire to have a deeper understanding of the region and all its complexities.

During the last six months I have been very active in our local teachers's union. I am on the bargaining team and have spent a lot of time reading and trying to educate myself on what a "safe" return to school would like for us in Chula Vista.

I'm excited about this course and learning for all of you!
